The next day we both woke up early and got ready in our shoes to trek. It was pleasant outside; we went to the cliff via a backdoor in our hotel. But after a 10-meter ascend we found that the way up had been blocked by a thick overgrowth of thorny fence. We tried to find a way out from all sides but in vain. This fence was probably erected to restrict domestic animals from wandering beyond a point. But this could not spoil our spirit, we came down and tried to get a Birdseye view of the cliff; and finally found a small opening at the edges of the hotel walls. Then we started climbing up, the rise was a bit steep and it was a challenging trek. But the fun started when we were about 7-8 meters below the peak – and we saw a temple. As we moved up we found that this was an abandoned temple, probably of the tribes and they might be visiting it only on occasions like marriage. It was nice and cool up there and we both enjoyed the place because we could see almost the whole of Abu from here.
Finally we came back; in spite of our own suspicions, managed to return on time.
The route back to Ahmedabad was uneventful; we had a small halt at the AmbaDevi temple. It was fun to see the dialect of people and the script on the hoardings change as we slowly moved from Rajasthan to Gujarat. We reached Ahmedabad around 3:00PM. As I have said, we had made arrangements for our accommodation in Ahmedabad when we were there for 3 hours journey break. So while accommodation was no concern here, unlike Abu, Ahmedabad offered no guided tours and my parents had 3 days to spend here; I myself had top spend just one day. On some research we found out that Ahmedabad / Gandhinagar also were just a one day affair. So in the evening we went to an internet café and planned a new tour. We now planned to spend the next day in Ahmedabad/ Gandhinagar. I was to leave for Mumbai the next evening; so my parents and my brother planned to go to Baroda at the same time where my mother’s cousin (my Uncle) lived. It had been quite some time since we had met him. So here was a god sent opportunity to meet him. As everything was planned; we immediately went to the railway station and made travel reservations. All settled we gaain had a good night’s sleep. . . . . . . . . .
